What is a Museum Wrap?
A Museum Wrap is a canvas that has been stretched and wrapped around a wooden frame. The wooden frame is composed of stretcher bars. Typically rosewood or fir are used to create stretcher bars due to their resistance to rot and warp.
Unlike traditional canvas wraps, a museum wrap conceals all staples to the back of the frame. This leaves the sides clean such that it can be displayed without a frame.
Can I frame the canvas?
Absolutely! The stretched and wrapped canvas is the exact technique an artist would use to paint — and while it can be hung on your wall (as pictured), you can also frame the canvas to match your particular needs.
What is a Giclée?
A Giclée, pronounced “zhee-clay”, is a fancy and invented term for a high-quality fine art print. It is derived from the French “gicler” meaning “to squirt, spurt, or spray” and in modern usage it refers to a fine art print using fade-resistant archival pigment-based inks on a cotton canvas.
A Giclée provides a higher-degree of quality and control to the artist than traditional offset lithography. All artwork purchased from Art Exploit has been carefully tailored such that the print achieves the exact goal and intention of the artist. In addition, a water based resin coating is applied to Open and Limited Edition artwork, further protecting from scratching and fingerprints.
What is a Limited Edition?
A Limited Edition print is a restricted run of prints created by the artist, and signed by the artist. The restricted quantity maintains a set investment value. The edition sizes are typically small and the fair market value is determined by the size of the edition. Larger edition sizes drive the price down such that it minimizes investment value where typically Open Editions can be offered.
What is an Open Edition?
An Open Edition print is an unrestricted run of prints where the cost is directly proportional to the printing cost — while this has less investment value to art collectors, many efforts are taken to ensure the same high-quality aesthetic as the Limited Editions.
